DDP’s first public forum for 2015, entitled The dynamics of South Africa’s political arena: Where are we heading? will be taking place on 26 February 2015.
The dynamics of South Africa’s political arena: Where are we heading?
Politically, 2015 promises to be a captivating year, and DDP we will continue where we left off in 2014, challenging you and creating a public platform for you as an active citizen to engage with various players in the socio-political environment. Things are changing, old alliances and old beliefs that previously seem untouchable are being eroded, ideologies that dominated the political landscape for centuries and polarized the world are disappearing, former enemies have become friends, former comrades are now sworn enemies and interestingly something new and unpredictable is emerging. The South African political landscape has never been so shaky, there is something emerging out of the shattered visions, deferred dreams and unfulfilled promises. The political milieu has never been so conducive for innovative and fresh ideas to emerge and take the country forward to the new world of possibilities. One of the emergent political phenomena in South Africa is the United Front which is still grappling with its dualistic identity of being both a political party (Workers Party) and a civil society movement (United Front).
You are invited to our first DDP public dialogue for 2015, to engage in this dialogue, focusing on this new political player. In order to deepen the conversation, all delegates intending to attend the dialogue will need to ponder on following questions prior to the event as part of their own preparation:
• Is the political environment in South Africa ready for this initiative?
• What are the chances of success for this initiative in the polarized, unpredictable and vicious political landscape?
• Can the United Front offer something different from all political formations that will deepen democracy in South Africa?
• What is the United Front’s ideological disposition?
Join us for this evening of possibilities and networking as we engage in challenging conversations.
We greatly value your presence at this important occasion, your voice matters!
Come and be heard!
